Cefotan (cefotetan)

Cefotan (cefotetan disodium for injection) is an antibiotic used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria. The brand name Cefotan is discontinued, but generic versions may be available.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• fever,
• easy bruising,
• shortness of breath,
• confusion,
• chills,
• tiredness,
• seizure,
• weakness,
• trouble swallowing,
• sore throat,
• little or no urination,
• painful or difficult urination,
• dark colored urine,
• ill feeling,
• mouth sores,
• swelling in your feet or ankles,
• severe stomach pain,
• sudden weakness,
• unusual bleeding (nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum),
• purple or red pinpoint spots under your skin,
• pale or yellowed skin,
• diarrhea that is watery or bloody,
• burning in your eyes, and
• red or swollen gums,
