Carteolol Hydrochloride Ophthalmic Solution is a beta-blocker used to treat open-angle glaucoma and other causes of high pressure inside the eye. Carteolol hydrochloride ophthalmic is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • headache
  • dizziness
  • stinging
  • depression
  • sleep problems (insomnia)
  • mild burning
  • itching, or watering of your eyes
  • blurred or cloudy vision
  • mildly swollen or puffy eyes
  • increased sensitivity of your eyes to light
  • trouble seeing at night
  • droopy eyelids
  • muscle weakness
  • stuffy nose
  • nausea, or
  • altered sense of taste
