Cardene I.V. (nicardipine hydrochloride)

Cardene I.V. (nicardipine hydrochloride) is a calcium channel blocker indicated for the short-term treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) for patients who cannot take the medication orally. Cardene I.V. is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • nausea,
  • loss of appetite,
  • itching,
  • vomiting,
  • lightheadedness,
  • shortness of breath,
  • confusion,
  • chills,
  • tiredness,
  • dizziness,
  • severe headache,
  • blurred vision,
  • swelling,
  • nervousness,
  • pounding in the ears,
  • sweating,
  • weakness,
  • chest pain or pressure,
  • blood in the urine,
  • increased thirst,
  • mood changes,
  • arm, back, or jaw pain,
  • frequent urination,
  • cold sweats,
  • sleepiness, and
  • little or no urine,
  • bone pain,
  • convulsions,
  • numbness and tingling,
  • black or tarry stools,
  • muscle pain or cramps,
  • slurred speech
  • blistering,
  • changes in skin color,
  • fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat,
  • unusual bleeding or bruising,
  • pinpoint red spots on the skin,
  • coldness,
  • discoloration of the skin,
  • pain and tenderness,
  • dry, or itching eyes,
  • feeling of warmth or heat,
  • flushing or redness of skin (especially on the face or neck),
  • swelling of the eye or eyelid,
  • redness and pain of the eye,
