Carafate (sucralfate) is an anti-ulcer medication used to treat duodenal ulcers. Carafate is available in generic form.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- stomach pain,

- headache,
- dizziness,
- constipation,
- back pain,
- vomiting,
- indigestion,
- diarrhea,
- sleep problems (insomnia),
- upset stomach,
- dry mouth,
- drowsiness,
- itching or skin rash,
- gas,
- spinning sensation,
- or, hypersensitivity reactions (shortness of breath, lip swelling, and hives).
