Qutenza (capsaicin 8% patch)

Qutenza (capsaicin) 8% Patch is a manmade version of a naturally occurring compound found in chili peppers used to manage neuropathic pain associated with postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain following an outbreak of shingles).

The drug is often used to treat Shingles .

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • severe pain, skin redness or blistering where the medicine was applied,
  • loss of feeling, and
  • trouble breathing or swallowing (after accidental inhalation or capsaicin odor or dried residue)
The following drugs are related to Qutenza, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Hymovis (high molecular weight viscoelastic hyaluronan)
