Xeloda (capecitabine)

Xeloda (capecitabine) is an antineoplastic (anti-cancer) medication used to treat breast cancer and colon or rectum cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea,
  • loss of appetite,
  • dark urine,
  • easy bruising,
  • unusual bleeding,
  • pale skin,
  • shortness of breath,
  • clay-colored stools,
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
  • cough,
  • trouble swallowing,
  • chest pain or pressure,
  • sore throat,
  • painful or difficult urination,
  • swelling in your feet or ankles,
  • feeling tired,
  • feeling lightheaded,
  • skin sores,
  • swelling in your face or tongue,
  • burning in your eyes, and
  • red or swollen gums,
  • feeling very thirsty or hot,
  • being unable to urinate,
  • hot and dry skin,
  • heavy sweating,
  • swelling or rapid weight gain,
  • blisters or ulcers in your mouth,
  • uneven heartbeats,
  • fever above 100.5 degrees,
  • eating much less than usual,
  • vomiting (more than once in 24 hours),
  • severe diarrhea (more than 4 times per day, or during the night),
  • pain, tenderness, redness, swelling, blistering or peeling skin on your hands or feet,
  • fever or other flu symptoms,
  • rapid heartrate,
