Rocaltrol (calcitriol)
type of Vitamin D Analogs
Rocaltrol (calcitriol) is a synthetic version of Vitamin D3 used to treat calcium deficiency with hypoparathyroidism (decreased functioning of the parathyroid glands) and metabolic bone disease in people with chronic kidney failure.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- nausea,
- headache,
- vomiting,
- loss of height,
- constipation,
- loss of appetite,
- increased thirst,
- weight loss,
- drowsiness,
- stomach or abdominal pain,
- eye sensitivity to light,
- diarrhea, or
- bone pain,
- changes in behavior,
- eye pain or redness,
- muscle pain or weakness,
- urinating more than usual or changes in the amount of urine,
- lower back pain,
- heart rate changes (fast, slow, or uneven),
- dry mouth or a metallic taste,
- slow growth (in a child taking Rocaltrol),
- severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back,
- sleepiness.
