Stadol (butorphanol tartrate)

Stadol (butorphanol tartrate) is a narcotic pain reliever, similar to morphine used to treat moderate to severe pain. Stadol is also used as part of anesthesia for surgery, or during early labor (if childbirth is expected to be more than 4 hours away). The brand name Stadol is no longer manufactured and can only be found in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea,
  • fever,
  • lightheadedness,
  • confusion,
  • diarrhea
  • sweating,
  • noisy breathing,
  • agitation,
  • shivering,
  • slow heart rate,
  • shallow breathing,
  • vomiting, and
  • hallucinations,
  • fast or pounding heartbeats,
  • twitching,
  • loss of coordination,
  • muscle stiffness,
  • sighing,
  • breathing that stops during sleep,
  • weak pulse,
  • problems with urination,
  • feeling like you are floating,
