Probuphine (buprenorphine implant)
type of Analgesics, Opioid Partial Agonist
Probuphine (buprenorphine) implant for subdermal administration is a partial opioid agonist indicated for the maintenance treatment of opioid dependence in patients who have achieved and sustained prolonged clinical stability on low-to-moderate doses of a transmucosal buprenorphine-containing product (i.e., doses of no more than 8 mg per day of Subutex or Suboxone sublingual tablet or generic equivalent). Probuphine should be used as part of a complete treatment program to include counseling and psychosocial support.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- nausea,
- loss of appetite,
- vomiting,
- diarrhea,
- fever,
- lightheadedness,
- confusion,
- dizziness,
- blurred vision,
- nausea
- sweating,
- weakness,
- agitation,
- shivering,
- runny nose,
- slurred speech,
- hallucinations,
- twitching,
- fast heart rate,
- weak or shallow breathing,
- extreme drowsiness,
- muscle stiffness,
- loss of coordination, and
- breathing that stops during sleep,
- worsening tiredness,
- goose bumps,
- increased sweating,
- feeling hot or cold,
- watery eyes,
- changes in mental status,
- trouble concentration,
- problems with walking, reflexes or coordination,
