Xaracoll (bupivacaine hydrochloride implant)
type of Local Anesthetics, Amides
Xaracoll (bupivacaine hydrochloride) contains an amide local anesthetic and is used in adults for placement into the surgical site to produce postsurgical pain relief (analgesia) for up to 24 hours following open inguinal hernia repair.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- fever,
- blurred vision,
- headache,
- tremor,
- changes in taste,
- incision site swelling,
- buildup of fluid at surgical site (seroma),
- scrotal swelling,
- oral numbness, and
- post procedural discharge
The following drugs are related to Xaracoll, either as a replacement or used together:
- Nexium (esomeprazole magnesium)
- Nexium I.V. (esomeprazole sodium)
- Prilosec (omeprazole)
