Helidac (bismuth subsalicylate)

Helidac Therapy (bismuth subsalicylate/metronidazole/tetracycline hydrochloride) is a combination of antibiotics used to treat Helicobacter pylori, a bacterial infection involved in causing stomach ulcers.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea,
  • headache,
  • dizziness,
  • metallic taste in mouth,
  • vomiting,
  • indigestion,
  • diarrhea,
  • constipation,
  • loss of appetite,
  • stomach or abdominal pain,
  • vaginal itching or discharge,
  • cold symptoms (stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat),
  • mouth pain,
  • trouble swallowing,
  • swollen tongue, or
  • black or "hairy" tongue.
The following drugs are related to Helidac, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Maxipime (cefepime hydrochloride for injection)
  • Voquezna (vonoprazan; amoxicillin; clarithromycin / vonoprazan; amoxicillin)
