Biavax (rubella and mumps virus vaccine live)

Biavax II (rubella and mumps virus vaccine live) is a vaccine used for simultaneous immunization against rubella and mumps in persons 12 months of age or older. A booster is not needed. The brand name Biavax II is discontinued, but generic versions may be available.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • headache
  • sore throat
  • cough
  • fever
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea, and
  • dizziness
  • rash
  • runny nose
  • general feeling of being unwell (malaise)
  • injection site reactions (temporary burning, stinging, redness, swelling, and tenderness)
  • temporary joint pain
The following drugs are related to Biavax, either as a replacement or used together:
  • gamaSTAN (immune globulin (human) for injection)
