Zynteglo (betibeglogene autotemcel) is an autologous hematopoietic stem cell-based gene therapy indicated for the treatment of adult and pediatric patients with β-thalassemia who require regular red blood cell (RBC) transfusions.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • rash,
  • fever,
  • confusion,
  • weight gain,
  • fatigue,
  • fainting,
  • overactive reflexes,
  • loss of consciousness,
  • seizures, and
  • problems with coordination,
  • memory loss,
  • delirium,
  • any bleeding that may not stop,
  • pulmonary edema,
  • abnormal liver and kidney function,
  • altered level of consciousness,
  • inability to speak or understand what is being said to you,
  • inability to concentrate,
  • slowness in activity,
  • muscle contractions or spasms,
  • flapping hand tremor,
  • changes in your personality,
  • rapid involuntary eye movement,
  • abnormal blood counts
