Benznidazole (benznidazole tablets, for oral use)

Benznidazole tablets are a nitroimidazole antimicrobial indicated in pediatric patients 2 to 12 years of age for the treatment of Chagas disease (American trypanosomiasis), caused by Trypanosoma cruzi.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • fever,
  • swollen glands,
  • skin rash,
  • easy bruising,
  • unusual bleeding,
  • pale skin,
  • cold hands and feet,
  • chills,
  • tiredness,
  • muscle aches,
  • sore throat,
  • burning eyes,
  • skin pain,
  • red or purple skin rash with blistering and peeling,
  • mouth sores,
  • skin sores,
  • severe weakness,
  • yellowing of your skin or eyes (jaundice),
  • shortness of breath
  • numbness, tingling, or burning pain in your hands or feet (may continue for several months),
