BeneFIX (coagulation factor ix recombinant for injection)

BeneFIX, Coagulation Factor IX (recombinant) is a man-made protein similar to a natural protein in the body that helps the blood to clot used to treat or prevent bleeding in people with hemophilia B. BeneFIX is not for treating people with hemophilia A factor VII deficiency.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • loss of appetite,
  • itching,
  • fever,
  • lightheadedness,
  • chills,
  • fast heartbeats,
  • chest pain,
  • weight gain,
  • wheezing,
  • sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body),
  • slurred speech,
  • problems with vision or balance,
  • coughing up blood, and
  • blue lips,
  • tightness in your chest,
  • swelling in your waist, hands, or lower legs,
  • continued bleeding after treatment,
  • new or worsening bleeding,
  • pain, swelling, warmth and redness in one or both legs
