Lotensin Hct (benazepril hcl and hctz)

Lotensin HCT (benazepril hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide) is a combination of an ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitor and a thiazide diuretic (water pill) used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Lotensin HCT is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • fever,
  • lightheadedness,
  • shortness of breath,
  • chills,
  • tiredness,
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
  • blurred vision,
  • constipation,
  • flu-like symptoms,
  • weakness,
  • sore throat,
  • skin pain,
  • little or no urination,
  • mouth sores,
  • swelling in your feet or ankles,
  • irregular heartbeats,
  • eye pain,
  • increased thirst or urination,
  • burning in your eyes,
  • tunnel vision,
  • seeing halos around lights,
  • red or purple skin rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling,
  • muscle pain,
  • leg cramps,
  • numbness or tingling,
  • feeling jittery,
  • joint pain, and
  • loss of movement,
  • skin rash on your cheeks or arms that worsens in sunlight
