Nexlizet (bempedoic acid and ezetimibe tablets)
type of Lipid-Lowering Agents, ACL Inhibitors
Nexlizet (bempedoic acid and ezetimibe) contains an adenosine triphosphate-citrate lyase (ACL) inhibitor and a cholesterol absorption inhibitor and is used as an adjunct to diet and maximally tolerated statin therapy for the treatment of adults with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease who require additional lowering of LDL-C.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- diarrhea,
- upper respiratory tract infection,
- joint pain,
- back pain,
- fatigue,
- pain in extremities,
- muscle spasms,
- influenza,
- anemia,
- elevated liver enzymes,
- bronchitis,
- high uric acid in the blood (hyperuricemia),
- abdominal pain or discomfort,
- sinusitus,
- increased risk of tendon rupture, and
- increased risk of gout
