Belviq XR (lorcaserin hydrochloride extended release tablets)

Belviq XR (lorcaserin hydrochloride) extended-release tablets is a serotonin 2C receptor agonist indicated as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management in adults with an initial body mass index (BMI) of: 30 kg/m2 or greater (obese), or 27 kg/m2 or greater (overweight) in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition, (e.g., hypertension, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes).
The drug is often used to treat Type 2 diabetes .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- headache
- cough
- nausea
- diarrhea
- vomiting
- dizziness
- fatigue
- constipation
- rash
- upper respiratory tract infection
- muscle pain
- back pain
- dry mouth
- stuffy nose, and
- urinary tract infection
- common cold
- mouth and throat pain
