Varibar Pudding (barium sulfate)

Varibar Pudding (barium sulfate) is a radiographic contrast agent indicated for use in modified barium swallow examinations to evaluate the oral and pharyngeal function and morphology in adult and pediatric patients 6 months of age and older.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • shortness of breath,
  • dizziness,
  • weakness,
  • itching,
  • low blood pressure,
  • rash,
  • hives, 
  • difficulty breathing, 
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, 
  • confusion, 
  • flushing,
  • agitation,
  • fast or slow heart rate,
  • ringing in your ears, and
  • excessive sweating
  • bluish or grayish color of the skin, nails, lips, or around the eyes, 
  • pallor,
