Bactroban Ointment (mupirocin)

Bactroban Ointment (mupirocin ointment) is a topical (for the skin) antibiotic used to treat infections of the skin such as impetigo. Bactroban Ointment is available in generic form.

The drug is often used to treat Impetigo .

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • rash,
  • severe itching,
  • severe stomach pain,
  • diarrhea that is watery or bloody,
  • irritation of treated skin,
  • unusual skin blistering or peeling, and
  • signs of a new skin infection
