Avastin (bevacizumab)

type of Antineoplastics, VEGF Inhibitor

Avastin (bevacizumab) is an antiangiogenic drug used to treat a certain type of brain tumor as well as cancers of the kidney, colon, rectum, lung, or breast. Avastin is usually given as part of a combination of cancer medicines.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • fever,
  • easy bruising,
  • lightheadedness,
  • shortness of breath,
  • confusion,
  • chills,
  • tiredness,
  • chest pain,
  • dizziness,
  • vision problems,
  • pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder,
  • seizure,
  • severe headache,
  • swelling,
  • headache,
  • wheezing,
  • fainting,
  • sweating,
  • cough,
  • chest pain or pressure,
  • sore throat,
  • mouth sores,
  • severe stomach pain,
  • rapid weight gain,
  • sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body),
  • trouble breathing,
  • bloody or tarry stools,
  • coughing up blood,
  • vomit that looks like coffee grounds,
  • skin sores,
  • urine that looks foamy,
  • puffy eyes,
  • swelling in your ankles or feet,
  • swelling of the face,
  • unusual bleeding (nose, mouth, vagina, rectum),
  • bleeding that will not stop,
  • balance difficulties,
  • extreme weakness,
  • urine leakage,
  • choking and gagging when you eat or drink,
  • pain, swelling, warmth, or redness in one or both legs,
  • missed menstrual periods,
  • blurred vision, and
  • pounding in your neck or ears
