Athentia Next (levonorgestrel tablet, 1.5 mg)

Athentia Next (levonorgestrel) is a backup emergency contraceptive indicated for women 17 years of age and older to reduce chance of pregnancy after unprotected sex (if a contraceptive failed or if birth control was not used). Athentia Next should not be used if you are already pregnant (because it will not work), or as regular birth control. Athentia Next is available over-the-counter.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• tiredness,
• dizziness,
• headache,
• vomiting
• menstrual changes,
• stomach or lower abdominal pain,
• breast pain, or

• Depo-Provera (medroxyprogesterone)
• Errin (norethindrone tablets usp)
• NuvaRing (etonogestrel, ethinyl estradiol vaginal ring)
• Tri-Luma (hydroquinone 4% cream)
• Norplant (levonorgestrel implants (unavailable in us))
• Seasonale (levonorgestrel, ethinyl estradiol)
• Mirena (levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system)
