Astero (lidocaine hydrochloride hydrogel + topical anesthetic)

Astero (hydrogel plus lidocaine HCl 4%) is a non-wetting water gel plus a topical anesthetic indicated for painful wounds such as stage I-IV pressure ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, ulcerations caused by mixed vascular etiologies, diabetic skin ulcers, first- and second-degree burns, post-surgical incisions, and cuts and abrasions.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- confusion,
- slow breathing,
- redness or swelling at the application site,
- sluggishness,
- low blood pressure (hypotension), and
- slow heartbeat.
