Durlaza (aspirin capsules)

Durlaza (aspirin) Extended Release is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indicated to reduce the risk of death and myocardial infarction (MI) in patients with chronic coronary artery disease, such as patients with a history of MI or unstable angina pectoris or with chronic stable angina and to reduce the risk of death and recurrent stroke in patients who have had an ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • headache,
  • dizziness,
  • indigestion,
  • agitation,
  • confusion, 
  • seizures, 
  • lethargy,
  • swelling in the brain (cerebral edema),
  • coma,
  • high levels of potassium in the blood (hyperkalemia),
  • metabolic acidosis,
  • respiratory alkalosis,
  • elevated liver enzymes,
  • hepatitis,
  • Reye's Syndrome,
  • interstitial nephritis,
  • papillary necrosis,
  • high levels of protein in the urine (proteinuria), and
  • kidney (renal) insufficiency and failure
