Aristocort Forte Injection (triamcinolone diacetate)

Aristocort Forte (triamcinolone diacetate) 40 mg/mL Parenteral is a corticosteroid indicated for intramuscular use to treat allergies, skin diseases, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, blood disorders, certain cancers, problems with the nervous system, eye diseases, kidney diseases, respiratory diseases, and rheumatic disorders. The intra-articular or soft tissue administration of Aristocort Forte is indicated as adjunctive therapy for short-term administration in acute gouty arthritis, acute and subacute bursitis, acute nonspecific tenosynovitis, epicondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, synovitis of osteoarthritis. The intralesional administration of Aristocort Forte is indicated for alopecia areata; discoid lupus erythematosus; keloids; localized hypertrophic, infiltrated, inflammatory lesions of granuloma annulare, lichen planus, lichen simplex chronicus (neurodermatitis), and psoriatic plaques. The brand name Aristocort Forte is discontinued, but generic versions may be available.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • nausea,
  • diarrhea,
  • tiredness,
  • blurred vision,
  • dry mouth,
  • headache,
  • worsening of your skin condition,
  • redness, warmth, swelling, oozing, or severe irritation of any treated skin,
  • increased thirst,
  • increased urination,
  • fruity breath odor,
  • slow wound healing,
  • thinning or discolored skin,
  • increased body hair,
  • muscle weakness,
  • pain behind the eyes,
  • mood changes,
  • menstrual changes, and
  • sexual changes
  • eye pain,
  • tunnel vision,
  • seeing halos around lights,
  • weight gain (especially in your face or upper back and torso),
  • Specific to children:
  • growth delays, and
  • bulging soft spot
