Arestin (minocycline hydrochloride microspheres)

Arestin (minocycline hydrochloride) microspheres are indicated as an antibiotic add-on to scaling and root planing (SRP) procedures for the reduction of periodontal pocket depth in adult patients with periodontal gum disease.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- headache,
- infection,
- pain,
- swelling and sores inside the mouth,
- flu-like symptoms,
- mouth irritation,
- gum infection,
- cavities,
- dental pain,
- gum inflammation (gingivitis),
- sore throat, and
- indigestion.
The following drugs are related to Arestin, either as a replacement or used together:
- Atridox (doxycycline hyclate)
- Periochip (chlorhexidine chip for insertion into periodontal pockets)
- Doryx (doxycycline hyclate)
- Monodox (doxycycline)
- Periostat (doxycycline hyclate)
