Aranesp (darbepoetin alfa)
type of Hematopoietic Growth Factors
Aranesp (darbepoetin alfa) is an erythropoiesis-stimulating agent, or ESA, used to treat anemia (a lack of red blood cells in the body) in people with long-term serious kidney disease (chronic renal failure) and people receiving chemotherapy for some types of cancer.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- nausea,
- fever,
- shortness of breath,
- confusion,
- pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder,
- blurred vision,
- pounding in your neck or ears,
- wheezing,
- fainting,
- sweating,
- chest pain or pressure,
- sore throat,
- skin pain,
- slurred speech,
- burning in your eyes,
- red or purple skin rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling,
- severe dizziness,
- swelling in your face or throat,
- sudden severe headache,
- sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of your body),
- problems with your vision or balance,
- pain, swelling, warmth, redness, cold feeling, or pale appearance of an arm or leg,
- anxiety, and
- nosebleeding
