Aptivus (tipranavir)

Aptivus (tipranavir) is a protease inhibitor of HIV-1 used to treat HIV, which causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.

The drug is often used to treat HIV .

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • nausea,
  • loss of appetite,
  • dark urine,
  • diarrhea,
  • fever,
  • swollen glands,
  • night sweats,
  • skin rash,
  • unusual bleeding,
  • weight loss,
  • clay-colored stools,
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
  • dry mouth,
  • wheezing,
  • weakness,
  • cough,
  • increased thirst,
  • increased urination,
  • menstrual changes, and
  • right-sided upper stomach pain,
  • hunger,
  • sudden severe headache,
  • severe skin rash,
  • peeling,
  • cold sores,
  • trouble speaking or swallowing,
  • problems with balance or eye movement,
  • swelling in your neck or throat (enlarged thyroid),
  • impotence
  • joint or muscle pain,
  • prickly feeling,
  • tightness in your throat,
  • blistering,
  • problems with speech or vision,
  • redness or sunburn,
