Anusol Rectal (hydrocortisone acetate rectal suppositories)

Anusol-HC (hydrocortisone acetate) Rectal Suppositories are a corticosteroid indicated for use in inflamed hemorrhoids, post-irradiation (factitial) proctitis, as an adjunct in the treatment of chronic ulcerative colitis, cryptitis, other inflammatory conditions of the anorectum, and anal itching (pruritis ani). Anusol-HC is available in generic form.

The drug is often used to treat Ulcerative colitis .

This drug may have the following side effects:

• burning,
• itching,
• irritation,
• dryness,
• infected hair follicles,
• loss of skin pigmentation,
• allergic contact dermatitis, and
• secondary infection.
