Atgam (antithymocyte globulin equine)

Atgam (lymphocyte immune globulin, anti-thymocyte globulin [equine]) Sterile Solution is an immunosuppressant used to treat rejection of a kidney transplant as well as aplastic anemia.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • itching,
  • rash,
  • fever,
  • swollen glands,
  • easy bruising,
  • lightheadedness,
  • chest pain,
  • seizure,
  • weakness, and
  • back pain,
  • trouble breathing,
  • coughing up blood,
  • vomit that looks like coffee grounds,
  • tiredness
  • skin sores,
  • fast heartbeat,
  • unusual bleeding (nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum),
  • purple or red pinpoint spots under your skin,
  • muscle or joint pain,
The following drugs are related to Atgam, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Thymoglobulin (anti-thymocyte globulin (rabbit) intravenous administration)
  • Zortress (everolimus)
  • Hizentra (immune globulin subcutaneous (human) injection)
