Amoxapine (Brand Names: Asendin) is a tricyclic antidepressant used to treat symptoms of depression, anxiety, or agitation.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • fever,
  • skin rash,
  • confusion,
  • pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder,
  • fluttering in your chest,
  • sweating,
  • agitation,
  • chest pain or pressure,
  • mood changes,
  • anxiety,
  • panic attacks,
  • trouble sleeping,
  • impulsive behavior,
  • irritableness,
  • hostility,
  • aggression,
  • restless,
  • hyperactivity (mentally or physically),
  • increased depression,
  • thoughts of self-harm,
  • pounding heartbeats,
  • sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body),
  • slurred speech,
  • problems with vision or balance,
  • very stiff (rigid) muscles,
  • high fever,
  • fast or uneven heartbeats,
  • tremors, and
  • lightheadedness
