Amikacin Sulfate Injection (amikacin sulfate)

Amikacin Sulfate Injection is an aminoglycoside antibiotic indicated in the short-term treatment of serious infections due to susceptible strains of Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas species, Escherichia coli, species of indole-positive and indole-negative Proteus, Providencia species, Klebsiella-Enterobacter-Serratia species, and Acinetobacter (Mima-Herellea) species. This drug may have the following side effects:
- nausea,
- headache,
- dizziness,
- numbness,
- vomiting,
- diarrhea,
- hearing loss,
- spinning sensation (vertigo),
- skin tingling,
- muscle twitching and convulsions,
- ringing or roaring in the ears,
- allergic reactions,
- Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea (CDAD),
- skin rash,
- drug fever,
- numbness and tingling,
- tremor,
- increase in white blood cells (eosinophilia),
- joint pain,
- anemia,
- low blood pressure, and
- low blood magnesium.
