Altocor (lovastatin extended-release tablets)

Altocor (lovastatin) Extended-Release is a cholesterol-lowering drug ("statin") used in addition to diet to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, and other heart complications in people with diabetes, coronary heart disease, or other risk factors. Altocor is available in generic form.

The drug is often used to treat Diabetes .

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • loss of appetite,
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • fever,
  • shortness of breath,
  • tiredness,
  • unusual tiredness,
  • little or no urination,
  • dark colored urine,
  • swelling in your feet or ankles,
  • stomach pain (upper right side), and
  • unexpected muscle pain,
  • muscle tenderness or weakness,
  • muscle weakness in your hips, shoulders, neck, and back,
  • trouble lifting your arms,
  • trouble climbing or standing,
