Altavera (levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol tablets)

Altavera (levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol kit) is a combination oral contraceptive (COC) indicated for use by females of reproductive potential to prevent pregnancy.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea,
  • vomiting,
  • bloating,
  • changes in weight or appetite,
  • changes in menstrual flow,
  • breast tenderness/pain/enlargement,
  • nipple secretion,
  • abdominal pain and cramps,
  • temporary infertility after discontinuation of treatments,
  • changes in vaginal secretions,
  • cholestatic jaundice,
  • rash (allergic),
  • vaginal infection (including vaginal yeast infection),
  • problems with contact lenses,
  • blood clots,
  • decrease in serum folate levels,
  • aggravation of varicose veins, and
