Aloprim (allopurinol sodium for injection)

Aloprim (allopurinol sodium) for Injection is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor used to manage patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and solid tumor malignancies who are receiving cancer therapy which causes elevations of serum and urinary uric acid levels and who cannot tolerate oral therapy. Aloprim is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • loss of appetite,
  • itching,
  • dark urine,
  • clay-colored stools, and
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • fever,
  • skin rash,
  • easy bruising,
  • unusual bleeding,
  • weight loss,
  • numbness,
  • tingling,
  • joint pain,
  • sore throat,
  • burning eyes,
  • skin pain,
  • red or purple skin rash with blistering and peeling,
  • flu symptoms,
  • painful urination,
  • blood in the urine,
  • little or no urination,
  • burning pain,
  • worsening gout symptoms,
  • stomach pain (upper right side),
