Lemtrada (alemtuzumab injection for intravenous infusion)

Lemtrada (alemtuzumab) is a recombinant humanized IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody used to treat patients with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). Because of its safety profile, the use of Lemtrada should generally be reserved for patients who have had an inadequate response to two or more drugs indicated for the treatment of MS.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • nausea,
  • itching,
  • dark urine,
  • vomiting,
  • diarrhea,
  • fever,
  • swollen glands,
  • skin rash,
  • easy bruising,
  • unusual bleeding,
  • pale skin,
  • lightheadedness,
  • confusion,
  • chills,
  • tiredness,
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
  • dizziness,
  • constipation,
  • back pain,
  • headache,
  • fainting,
  • nervousness,
  • sweating,
  • weakness,
  • cough,
  • tightness in the chest,
  • chest pain or pressure,
  • trembling,
  • sore throat,
  • little or no urination,
  • hoarseness,
  • drowsiness,
  • seizures,
  • rapid weight gain,
  • anxiety,
  • irritableness,
  • extreme tiredness,
  • tremor,
  • feeling cold,
  • eye pain,
  • feeling unwell,
  • unexplained weight loss,
  • worsening tiredness,
  • blood in your urine,
  • eye swelling,
  • painful or difficulty urination,
  • blurred or double vision,
  • vision loss,
  • low back or side pain,
  • excessive sweating,
  • feeling of fullness,
  • unexplained weight gain,
  • light-colored stools,
  • black, tarry stools,
  • fast, irregular or pounding heartbeat,
  • sores or ulcers on the lips or in the mouth,
  • cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, eyes, or genitals,
  • red or purple spots on the skin,
  • flushing of the face or neck,
  • joint pain, stiffness, or swelling,
  • lack of appetite,
  • muscle aches or pain,
  • nightmares or unusually vivid dreams,
  • numbness, pain, tingling or weakness,
  • pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck,
  • painful or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin,
  • shakiness and unsteady walk,
  • difficulty in speaking or slow speech,
  • spitting or coughing up blood,
  • dilated neck veins,
  • depression or sadness,
  • difficulty to move your arms, legs, or facial muscles,
  • inability to speak,
  • irregular breathing,
  • upper right abdominal pain,
  • unsteadiness or poor coordination,
  • difficulty sleeping, and
  • trouble concentrating
