Akeega (niraparib and abiraterone acetate tablets)

Akeega (niraparib and abiraterone acetate) is a combination a poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor and a CYP17 inhibitor indicated for use with prednisone for the treatment of adult patients with deleterious or suspected deleterious BRCA-mutated (BRCAm) metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
The drug is often used to treat Prostate cancer .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- nausea,
- vomiting,
- fever,
- shortness of breath,
- weight loss,
- dizziness,
- constipation,
- musculoskeletal pain,
- headache,
- fatigue,
- cough,
- bleeding,
- insomnia,
- abdominal pain,
- urinary tract infection (UTI),
- decreased platelets,
- decreased hemoglobin,
- increased creatinine,
- high blood pressure (hypertension),
- decreased appetite,
- decreased white blood cells,
- fluid retention (edema),
- increased alkaline phosphatase,
- increased AST,
- COVID-19,
- irregular heartbeats (arrhythmia),
- falls,
- increased or decreased potassium,
- increased ALT, and
- increased bilirubin.
