Ak-Fluor (fluorescein injection)

AK-Fluor (fluorescein injection) is a diagnostic agent used in fluorescein angiography or angioscopy of the fundus and of the iris vasculature. AK-Fluor is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • headache
  • nausea
  • low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • vomiting
  • fainting
  • gastrointestinal distress
  • symptoms and signs of hypersensitivity, and
  • injection site reactions (pain or aches, blood clots)
The following drugs are related to Ak-Fluor, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Gastrografin (diatrizoate meglumine and diatrizoate sodium solution)
  • Flurox (fluorescein sodium and benoxinate hydrochloride ophthalmic solution)
