Gilotrif (afatinib) is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor used to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has spread (metastasized), whose tumors have a genetic mutation called epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR).
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- dark urine,
- fever,
- easy bruising,
- unusual bleeding,
- shortness of breath,
- tiredness,
- clay-colored stools,
- yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
- fluttering in your chest,
- blurred vision,
- trouble swallowing,
- stomach pain (upper right side),
- pounding heartbeats,
- new or worsening cough,
- feeling like something is in your eye,
- red or swollen gums,
- increased sensitivity to light,
- eye pain or redness,
- rapid weight gain
- watery eyes,
- severe or ongoing diarrhea (lasting 2 days or longer),
- severe skin reaction that causes blistering and peeling,
- pain, redness, numbness, and peeling skin on your hands or feet,
- blisters or ulcers in your mouth,
- swelling in your legs and ankles, and
