Gilotrif (afatinib tablets, for oral use)

Gilotrif (afatinib) is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor used to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has spread (metastasized), whose tumors have a genetic mutation called epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR).

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • dark urine,
  • fever,
  • easy bruising,
  • unusual bleeding,
  • shortness of breath,
  • tiredness,
  • clay-colored stools,
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
  • fluttering in your chest,
  • blurred vision,
  • trouble swallowing,
  • stomach pain (upper right side),
  • pounding heartbeats,
  • new or worsening cough,
  • feeling like something is in your eye,
  • red or swollen gums,
  • increased sensitivity to light,
  • eye pain or redness,
  • rapid weight gain
  • watery eyes,
  • severe or ongoing diarrhea (lasting 2 days or longer),
  • severe skin reaction that causes blistering and peeling,
  • pain, redness, numbness, and peeling skin on your hands or feet,
  • blisters or ulcers in your mouth,
  • swelling in your legs and ankles, and
