Adrucil (fluorouracil injection)

Adrucil (fluorouracil injection) is a nucleoside metabolic inhibitor indicated for the treatment of patients with adenocarcinoma of the colon and rectum, adenocarcinoma of the breast, gastric adenocarcinoma, or pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The brand name Adrucil has been discontinued. It may be available in generic form.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- nausea,
- headache,
- vomiting,
- dry or cracking skin,
- low red and white blood cells and platelets,
- gastrointestinal ulcers,
- severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis),
- other allergic reactions,
- involuntary eye movement,
- skin sensitivity to sunlight (redness or dark spots on skin),
- tear duct obstruction,
- changes in vision,
- tearing,
- eye sensitivity to light,
- euphoria,
- inflammation of veins caused by blood clots,
- nosebleed, and
- nail changes (including loss of nails).
