Adenoscan (adenosine injection)

Adenoscan (adenosine injection) is a vasodilator used in combination with thallium-201 for nuclear heart stress tests when the patient is unable to exercise adequately.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • lightheadedness,
  • severe shortness of breath,
  • chest pain or tightness,
  • pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder,
  • fluttering in your chest,
  • seizure,
  • severe headache,
  • blurred vision,
  • pounding in your neck or ears,
  • sudden numbness,
  • weakness, and
  • problems with vision or speech
