Actonel with Calcium (risedronate sodium with calcium carbonate)

Actonel with Calcium (risedronate sodium with calcium carbonate) is a combination of a bisphosphonate with the mineral calcium used to treat or prevent postmenopausal and steroid-induced osteoporosis. Risedronate is also used to treat Paget's disease of bone. Calcium carbonate is used to prevent and to treat calcium deficiencies. The brand name Actonel with Calcium is discontinued, but generic versions may be available.

The drug is often used to treat Osteoporosis .

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• fever,
• chest pain,
• numbness,
• swelling,
• sore throat,
• skin pain,
• coughing up blood,
• severe heartburn,
• burning in your eyes,
• red or purple skin rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling,
• muscle spasms or contractions, and
• numbness or tingly feeling (around your mouth, or in your fingers and toes)
• new or worsening heartburn,
• difficulty or pain when swallowing,
• pain or burning under the ribs or in the back,
• burning pain in your upper stomach,
• new or unusual pain in your thigh or hip,
• jaw pain,
• severe joint, bone or muscle pain,
