Soriatane (acitretin)

Soriatane (acitretin) is a retinoid, which is a form of vitamin A, used to treat severe psoriasis in adults. Soriatane is usually given after other psoriasis medicines have been unsuccessful. Soriatane is not a cure for psoriasis, and you may relapse after you stop taking this medication.

The drug is often used to treat Psoriasis .

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • nausea,
  • loss of appetite,
  • itching,
  • dark urine,
  • vomiting,
  • fever,
  • shortness of breath,
  • chest pain,
  • dizziness,
  • blurred vision,
  • dry mouth,
  • headache,
  • increased thirst,
  • increased urination,
  • fruity breath odor,
  • mood changes,
  • rapid weight gain,
  • aggression,
  • thoughts of self-harm,
  • sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body),
  • lightheadedness
  • depression,
  • pain,
  • muscle pain, and
  • unusual thoughts or behavior,
  • ringing in your ears,
  • redness,
  • sudden severe headache,
  • sudden swelling,
  • pain behind your eyes,
  • trouble moving,
  • yellowing of your skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • swelling or warmth in one or both legs,
  • problems with speech or balance,
  • loss of feeling in your hands or feet,
  • pain in your back, joints, muscles, or bones,
  • swelling or peeling of your skin,
