Aciphex (rabeprazole sodium)

Aciphex (rabeprazole sodium) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) to reduce stomach acid and is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), duodenal ulcers, and used in combination with antibiotics to treat Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacterial infections in the stomach. Aciphex is available as generic termed rabeprazole sodium.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• dizziness,
• joint pain,
• swelling,
• headache,
• weakness,
• cough,
• severe stomach pain,
• rapid weight gain,
• bloody or tarry stools,
• seizure (convulsions),
• bloody diarrhea,
• feeling jittery,
• blood in your urine,
• red or pink urine,
• coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds,
• bruising,
• fast or irregular heart rate,
• urinating less than usual,
• muscle cramps or spasms in your hands or feet,
• sudden pain or difficulty moving hip, wrist or back,
• skin rash on your cheeks or arms made worse by sunlight,
• shaking or jerking muscle movements (tremors),
• difficulty swallowing or choking,
• unusual bleeding (nosebleeds, gums),
• heavy menstrual flow,
• bleeding that is difficult to control,
