Diamox Tablets and Injection (acetazolamide tablets and injection)

Diamox (acetazolamide) Tablets and Injection is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used for adjunctive treatment of edema due to congestive heart failure; drug-induced edema; centrencephalic epilepsies (petit mal, unlocalized seizures); chronic simple (open-angle) glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, and preoperatively in acute angle-closure glaucoma where delay of surgery is desired in order to lower intraocular pressure. Diamox is also indicated for the prevention or amelioration of symptoms associated with acute mountain sickness in climbers attempting rapid ascent and in those who are very susceptible to acute mountain sickness despite gradual ascent.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- nausea,
- loss of appetite,
- vomiting,
- diarrhea,
- fever,
- confusion,
- dizziness,
- headache,
- fatigue,
- flushing,
- drowsiness,
- depression,
- excitement,
- feeling unwell (malaise),
- pain at injection site,
- abnormal liver function,
- electrolyte imbalance,
- changes in taste,
- high or low blood sugar (hyper/hypoglycemia),
- numbness and tingling,
- allergic skin reactions including hives,
- skin sensitivity to sunlight, and
- ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
