Sectral (acebutolol hydrochloride) is a beta-blocker used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart rhythm disorders. Sectral is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• lightheadedness,
• shortness of breath,
• confusion,
• severe headache,
• blurred vision,
• pounding in your neck or ears,
• swelling,
• shortness of breath, and
• rapid weight gain,
• anxiety,
• new or worsening chest pain,
• nosebleeds,
• severe chest pain,
• slow heartbeats,
• Irregular heartbeats
